A strong interest in biological sciences and a desire to understand the fundamental processes of life and disease lead me to pursue studies in biology for eight years ‒ initially at Imperial College London (BSc Honours), specialising in molecular and cellular processes in immunology, neurobiology, parasitology and development.
My passion for genetics and cellular mechanisms led me to pursue a PhD in biomedical sciences at King’s College London, sponsored by the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland, during which I trained in molecular genetics research in the context of congenital muscle and soft-tissue disorders.
Areas of knowledge:
- Molecular biology, including signal transduction pathways
- Cell biology and signalling
- Muscle development and disease, musculoskeletal associations and anatomy
- Infectious diseases (virology, parasitology)
- Translational research
